What Is A Showcase Shoot?

A Showcase Shoot is a chance to celebrate you — exactly as you are, or perhaps exactly as you want to be.

It isn't about fitting into a particular style, age group, body type or idea of what an empowering photoshoot should look like.

It's about giving you the opportunity to step in front of the camera and be seen.

Who is a Showcase Shoot for?

Anyone.

Honestly. Anyone.

We welcome people of all ages to the studio, with wildly different ideas about what they want from their photographs.

Some people come with a very clear vision.

Others arrive with little more than a feeling:

"I want to do something I've never done before."

"I want to see myself differently."

"I want to celebrate this moment in my life."

"I have no idea what I want — but I know I want something."

All of those are brilliant starting points.

Over the years, we've photographed people celebrating a divorce and the beginning of a completely new chapter. We've welcomed parents who are rediscovering themselves now their children have flown the nest.

We've created transformation shoots for people who have overcome or are facing critical illnesses. We've celebrated new skills, new careers, personal achievements and huge changes in people's lives.

And sometimes there isn't a big life event at all.

Sometimes you simply want to feel a little more extroverted for a day.

You want photographs for yourself.

You want something spectacular on your wall.

You want to wear the outfit you've never dared to wear in public.

You want to create a character, play with fashion, bring in a prop, try something completely ridiculous or simply see what happens when you give yourself permission to be photographed differently.

We're 100% here for all of it.

You may have heard the phrase empowerment photoshoot.

It's a term we've talked about before, because although we absolutely believe photography can be empowering, we don't believe empowerment has one particular look.

For some people, it's about boudoir or fashion. For others, it's about creativity, character, strength, celebration or simply seeing themselves in a completely different way.

That's why we wanted to create something that didn't ask you to fit a particular definition.

We called it the Showcase Shoot because that's really what we want to help you do: showcase you.

Whatever that looks like.

We've had clients come to us to celebrate a divorce and the beginning of a new chapter. We've photographed people rediscovering themselves after their children have left home, celebrated new skills and achievements, and created incredible transformation shoots for people who have overcome or are facing critical illnesses.

We've also photographed people who simply wanted to be a little more extroverted for a day.

There doesn't always have to be a huge life event behind it.

Sometimes you just want to create something wonderful.

Something that makes you feel seen.

Something that reminds you what you're capable of.

And sometimes, you simply want some gasp-worthy photographs of yourself.

Perhaps for the first time, you look at yourself and think:

"That's me. I love that."

That's where the idea for our Showcase Shoot came from.

We wanted to create a photography experience that wasn't about telling you what empowerment should look like.

Instead, we wanted to help you showcase yourself in whatever way feels right to you.

You don't need to know exactly what you want

This is probably one of our favourite things about the Showcase Shoot.

You don't need to arrive with a fully formed Pinterest board and a ten-page moodboard.

You can.

We love those too.

But you can also arrive with just a feeling of how you want to be seen.

A single word can be enough.

The shoot starts with a discovery call, because before we photograph you, we want to understand you.

We listen.

We talk about what brought you to us, what you're celebrating, what you're imagining, what makes you excited and perhaps what makes you a little nervous.

Then we start building the shoot around you.

A tiny spark of an idea.

Sometimes that idea becomes one carefully created portrait.

Sometimes it becomes a whole series of looks, sets, lighting changes and creative concepts.

And sometimes, during the planning process or the shoot itself, you discover that you want to take things further.

That's where our longer sessions come in.

Some clients choose to expand their Showcase Shoot into a half-day experience. Others go all the way to our full-day immersive Takeover sessions.

There is no expectation that you should.

The point is that we start with you and see where the idea takes us.

The photographs are only part of it

We are incredibly lucky.

Photography gives us a reason to meet people we might otherwise never have crossed paths with, and our clients trust us with some of their most personal stories.

We hear about huge life changes.

New beginnings.

Things people have overcome.

Things they are still working through.

Dreams they've finally decided to pursue.

And sometimes, simply the desire to have a day that is completely about them.

We treasure that trust.

Before you walk through our doors, during your shoot and long after you've received your photographs, we understand that you've trusted us with something personal.
